Tuesday reflection: Your camp superheros - meet the 2016 team

Dear Camp Families, supporters and friends, Good morning! We are now well into the rhythm of camp and for today's reflection I wanted to highlight what we all know are the real superheroes of our camp. In reality, there are few words to do justice to the our camp kivita team.  Our truly phenomenal nurses, doctors, and individuals are real life heroes who volunteer their time, energy, expertise, spirit and passion. We would not exist without them. For the last 8 years, we have been fortunate to have the most caring, committed, supportive, kind, and outrageously fun team.  It is important to note that each of our nursing staff donates a week of their vacation time to attend and work at camp and they are the heart and soul of camp. They are up at dawn and work tirelessly throughout the day and night to ensure the safety and well being of our campers.  Some of our team - including Jaina and Lindsay K have been a part of our camp family since our first summer eight years ago. They have been with the camp kivita family throughout this journey and are intergral to the success and growth of camp. This years nursing staff include our medical director Christina, and Jaina, Lindsay K, Lindsay, Roz, Jenn, Liz, and April. We also have to acknowledge the incredible nurses from past summers including Wendy, Natalie, Carina, Lindsay and volunteers Blake and Jay. While the mission of camp kivita is to provide summer camp for all kids living with organ failure and transplants, it is a team secret that the magic of camp is shared by each of our staff. Our nurses and doctors have cared for your children at the hospital over the years and have seen them throughout their health care journeys. They have been there in the good and bad times and it is thus so powerful and special for each of our volunteer team to witness our campers thriving and blossoming at camp. It is this magic that brings our team back year after year and on behalf of the Camp Kivita Board of Directors and Leadership team we salute each of our nurses - you are our true super heroes and we are grateful for all you do.
