Dear Campers, Families and Friends,
One of the themes of Camp Kivita is the notion of transformation. Organ transplantation transforms lives. We at Camp Kivita also believe that the power of camp is in its ability to transform children. The connections made with other children and counsellors, the independence gained from getting away from home, living amongst others, trying new activities and improving on skills is truly transformative. Camp is a safe place to have new experiences and find your voice. To push boundaries. Camp inspires confidence. Camp empowers children. Camp allows more reserved kids to find their voice, and encourages leadership skills to be utilized to their best. Team work is everywhere.
Rain or shine, the campers are busy creating, participating, singing and cheering. There will be more canoeing and kayaking, sailing, swimming and mini golf. Marshmellow smores will be made over a campfire. There will be music, arts and crafts and there will be a talent show where the campers can share, either alone or as a team some of their most creative talents. Some will sing, some will dance, some will balance a spoon on their nose, and yet others will lip sync or just makes something up. It doesn't matter. What matters is that they will feel free to express themselves in a fun and safe way, with out judgement and with lots of cheering and applause amongst new friends. It is this creative space where the magical transformations of camp happen.
Stay tuned for more pictures and have a wonderful day!
Yours in camping
Stacey
